New People at the Foundation
The Methodists Helping Methodists Foundation is pleased to report that it has doubled operational capacity to better serve churches and ministries of the Mountain Sky. The foundation’s Board of Directors approved three new positions: Account Manager Connie Egland, Bookkeeper Susan Begonja, Receptionist Stacey Hilzer.
Along with three existing staff members, Kristi Kinnison, Executive Director, Mary Lark, Executive Assistant and Dale Wright, Accountant, the staff has grown from three to six in just one month, doubling capacity to better serve all stakeholders.
Connie Egland, Account Manager
Connie Egland is our new Account Manager. She will be assisting churches and ministries with endowment and investment accounts. Connie, a lifelong Methodist, has served as a development professional in the Jewish nonprofit community since 2007 and is excited to combine her professional experience with her faith. As a volunteer in the Methodist movement, Connie’s two passions are Disciple Bible Study (facilitator since 1992) and singing in the choir. Additional volunteer experience includes capital campaign and stewardship committees, music and arts council chair, church council member, retreat leader, camp counselor, Sunday school teacher, and youth coordinator. Connie holds a Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages from Texas A&M University and a Nonprofit Management certificate from Colorado Christian University. Connie has an adult son, John, a special education professional in Denver.
Susan Begonja, Bookkeeper
Susan Begonja is our new Bookkeeper. Susan grew up in New York City, where she studied illustration and advertising design at the High School of Art and Design and Parsons School of Design. She subsequently opened a designer consignment shop in Philadelphia Pennsylvania which was featured in Philadelphia Magazine in 2000 in their “Best of” listings. The shop, Hangers was in business for twelve years. Susan moved to San Francisco in 2000 and ventured into the world of technology by joining the Dot-Com movement working for a Procter & Gamble start-up, Reflect.com. This was the beginning of a love for technology that continues today. In the years since, she has worked for the Hartmann Software Group as an account manager and technology trainer. Currently she is at home in Denver, Colorado with the Methodist Helping Methodist Foundation hoping to work on exciting projects that promote the success of those we serve.
Stacey Hilzer, Receptionist
Stacey Hilzer is our new Receptionist. She comes to us from Hope UMC, Greenwood Village, where she shared her cheerful energy and spirit by serving as Youth Leader for several years. Prior to that, she worked in corporate America. Stacey is a devoted wife and mom, as well as a caregiver to her mother. A lifelong Methodist, Coloradan, and extreme Denver Broncos fan, and with her son attending university out East, Stacey was eager to share her skills with us at the Foundation. She brings a shining enthusiasm as the foundation’s officer of “first impressions.”
Dale Wright, Accountant
Dale Wright is our [almost new] Accountant. started working for the foundation during COVID-19 to help manage the loan payment deferment program. We liked him so much that we hired him in January this year. With a degree in Accounting from Iowa State University, Dale has a diverse accounting background in for-profit and non-profit corporations. Most recently, Dale worked for the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center. Dale also is a licensed massage therapist and maintains a farm in Iowa. We are so pleased to have Dale on board.
Mary Lark, Executive Assistant
Mary Lark, Executive Assistant, has been with the Foundation since 2018. Before working for the foundation, Mary worked in the legal field in five states, as well as for the Colorado Judicial Branch. Mary also owned her own company, The Write Type, providing administrative support services to a variety of professionals, small businesses, and individuals. She holds an Associate Degree in Communications. Mary has been involved in the Methodist church for many years and was a student in Bible Study Fellowship for seven years. Mary especially sees God’s glory in her flower gardens where the butterflies, bees, hummingbirds, and dragonflies roam. It brings her joy to share the bounty from her gardens at the office.
Kristi Kinnison, Executive Director
Kristi Kinnison, Executive Director, is approaching her 11th anniversary serving the foundation. Kristi discovered her passion for church stewardship in 2007 when she was challenged with organizing the annual giving campaign at her church. Since then, she has grown deeply in the spiritual practice of faithful financial management, generosity, and holistic stewardship. She has more than 30 years of business management experience in nonprofits, mortgage banking, and manufacturing. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics from Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colorado, and a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from University of Colorado, Denver. A life-long United Methodist, she is a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in downtown Denver. Kristi feels blessed to combine her education, business experience, and passion with her faith.
We are pleased to continue serving the Mountain Sky by providing a variety of financial services so that ministries will be successful.
We exist to serve, nurture and secure religious, educational and benevolent programs related to the Methodist movement in the Mountain Sky Region.
